Photo Organising

  • What do you do as a Personal Photo Organiser?

As your Personal Photo Organiser I would help you to organise, preserve and create beautiful ways to share and reconnect with your loved photos and memories. My services focus on digital photo management. We can work together to organise your photos so that they are categorised, safe and accessible. I offer a wide range of professional services:

    • Photo Organising (Printed & Digital)
    • Photo Preserving (BackUps, Scanning, Restoration, Media Conversion)
    • Photo Sharing (Print & Digital Album Design, Slideshows, Home Décor, Photo Gifts)

I help my clients by designing systems to organise their photo collection and also beautiful keepsakes that work towards their specific needs and requirements.

  • Why should I hire a Personal Photo Organiser to help me?

If you have hundreds or thousands of digital photos and videos piling up on your devices to the point where you can’t find them anymore, I am the right person to help you.

If you have printed photos in a shoebox, or inherited boxes of family photos, carousels of slides and old albums, or if you have family videos in a box in your closet that you probably haven’t seen in decades, I am the right person to help you.

Caro Tello will help you organise, preserve and create beautiful ways to share and reconnect with your loved photos and memories so you can enjoy them again.

As your Personal Photo Organiser I can get you started on your journey to preserve your memories. There’s no time like now to get started on a photo organising project!

Click here for more information about my Services.

  • Do I have to purchase organising software?

No. Caro Tello believes in organisation based on a core folder structure. The reason being is that all information and editing done in this structure will remain with the photos. Potentially, proprietary software programs may not let you have all the information you want if you move your photos somewhere else. If you wish to use a photo organising and sharing software afterwards, Caro Tello can help you decide which one will work best for your needs.

  • What do I get when you organise my photo collection?

Typically, I start all my services with an in-depth client needs assessment, this is a one-on-one meeting that takes anywhere from 1-2 hours where I ask a series of questions to help me get to know you, your family and your photo organising needs and preferences. Once the assessment is complete, we will decide on a photo organising package based on your specific wants, needs and budget.

Then, a copy of your photo collection will be provided in an external hard drive, this MUST be a copy of your photo collection, not your original digital photos. After that I am off to work!

While I’m working you will receive constant updates of the organisation process and at the end you will receive your photo collection organised within a core file folder structure sorted chronologically by date. With no duplicates, no blurry or bad shots. Your entire photo collection would be curated with the best photos in a star rated system. Photos will be renamed, tagged and with metadata for ease search.  Your entire photo collection will be backed up depending on the package you chose, plus a gorgeous photo album.

You will get 1 on 1 personal service you’ve been craving to get your photos organised, preserved and shared.

Click here for more information about my Services.

  • How long does it take to complete a photo organising project?

This can vary and depends on the type of package you choose. Each project is unique just as each family and person are unique. Some projects can take couple of days or weeks to accomplish, others few months. This is common with a life time of photos and memorabilia projects that often take up months to complete.

The whole project process includes an in-depth client needs assessment, file structure creation, organisation, edition, metadata creation, de-duplication, file renaming, photo curation, client reviewing, additional edits, final client review, backups, and the final delivery of your photo collection in an EHD. However, rush services are also welcome. The scope of the job determines the price.

Click here for more information about my Photo Organising Packages.

  • Do you come to our place to do the photo organising project?

Besides our one-on-one meetings, I do all my work on my own working space. That means we keep close communication via phone/skype/email/FaceTime or access your computer via online remote connection.  This is convenient and practical, especially for busy people.  If there is any need of on-site work, this can be discussed.

  • Do you do scanning in-house or mail it out to a third party?

I do all photo scanning locally in-house and I will never mail your photos or slides out to a third party. I understand these are treasured memories that mean the world to you and I treat them as if they were my own. I use the latest technology to provide quality scans of your precious memories. The high resolution scanned photos are saved as JPEG image files.

  • What do I get when you scan my printed photos and slides?

High resolution scanned photos are saved into your core file structure as a JPEG image files and renamed accordingly. Minor retouching, such as red-eye, fade and colour correction, is included.  I also offer more in-depth retouching, editing and restauration services.

Click here for more information about my Preserving services.

  • What’s the best way to get my photos, slides and films to you?

If you are local to the Melbourne Metro area, I can pick up the external hard drive with the copy of your photo collection at no extra charge. If you’re not local or just prefer to submit online, I have a system that allows you to securely upload your photos.

  • Do you do other services such as organise printed photos, memorabilia, transfer VHS tapes, mini cassettes, reels of film and audio cassettes to a current format I can use?

Yes, even though I specialise in digital photos, I gladly provide services to help you enjoy all your memories, regardless of the format.  The most commonly requested non-digital services are print photo organisation and scanning.  If there is a non-digital service you are interested in, please let me know and I will be happy to answer any questions you may have at any time.

Click here for more information about my Preserving services.

I will do everything I can to honour all rush job requests.  I will let you know upfront whether or not it is feasible.  There is a 25% rush job premium.

  • What if I’m not satisfied?

I pride myself in treating my clients as I would like to be treated myself. I will work diligently toward achieving your happiness with the service and outcomes!  If however, for any reason you are not completely satisfied, I will reimburse you or offer you a comparable project, product or service, to our mutual agreement.  So far, that has never happened and I hope to keep it that way :)

  • What if I change my goal midway into the project?

Since I charge by the project, not the hour, I will let you know if and how that might affect the cost, and then you can decide how you would like to proceed.

  • Do you offer help with on-going photo management, after my photos have been organised?

Yes!  I love to stay in touch and help you keep the control you’ve gained over your photos!  I have a yearly photo organisation maintenance plan so you never have to feel overwhelmed again!

  • Are there additional costs?

Depending on the service you purchase, there may be additional costs, if the service involves items other than the photo organisation service.  For example, if you purchased a digital photo organisation package, but want to include some printed photos you have, there are additional costs for the scanning service.

  • How do I pay for your services?

Payments are done online via pay pal, cash or bank deposit. You are required to pay for the cost of the service, 50% at the start of the project and 50% at the end.

Photo Albums

  • Can you make a photo album for me?

  • Why would I get someone to design my photo album when I can do it myself?

People have so many photos they don’t have the time to organise them or do anything meaningful with them. If they do attempt to choose a method to create a photo album they are often thwarted by the myriad of choices and anxiety of choosing the right page background, colour, and layout. It becomes an extremely hard and time consuming process. In fact, 80% of all digital photo album projects are never completed.

I can take the stress out of it all, by choosing the best photos, designing the layout properly, tweaking images where necessary, cropping and making sure each photo works well with the photos surrounding it.

The overall thought, creativity and quality that go into my photo albums is a unique and personal service which will set your photo album apart from the rest.

Click here for more information about my Photo Album Services and gallery.

  • How many pages can my photo album have?

Photo albums have a minimum of 20 pages and can vary anywhere up to 100 pages depending of the type of photo album you choose.

Click here to know more about my photo album kinds and sizes.

  • How long does it take to complete a photo album service?

This can vary and depends on the type of photo album. Bigger in size or more number of pages for a photo album take longer than smaller photo albums. As a rough guide, completion of a 20-page photo album would take 4-5 weeks. The process can take a bit less or a bit more time depending on how quickly the photo album is approved by the client. That includes the initial consultation, photo album design, captioning\lyrics\poems, 2 review cycles, final client review, ordering, shipping, quality control and final delivery. Print photos and memorabilia scanning have an extra cost.

Rush products are also welcome. If you would like your photo album quicker, e.g. in time for an upcoming special occasion such as a birthday, please get in touch and I’ll try my best to accommodate you.

Click here to contact Caro Tello.

  • Do you offer various photo finishes and album covers?

Yes! I work with a high-end photo album publisher who have many choices in their product lines. Final products can range from a simple soft cover photo album to a high-end leather-covered or crystal-covered photo album with layflat pages and high gloss finish. The choice is up to you!

I have a range of photo album samples and a sample swatch album to show you on our photo album consultation.

Click here to know more about my photo album kinds and sizes.

  • What kinds of memorabilia can I include?

Just about anything. Paintings, drawings, cards, little notes, scrap books, cut-outs, collages, plain, movie and concert tickets and 3D objects.

I would caution though against anything too delicate that might damage in the process. There are additional costs for the scanning service.

  • What’s the best way to give you my photos and memorabilia?

If you are local to the Melbourne Metro area, I can arrange a pick-up or drop-off the CD/DVD or memory stick with the copies of the photos for the photo album at no extra charge. If you’re not local or just prefer to submit online, I have a system that allows you to securely upload your photos.

  • Will all the photos I give you be in my photo album?

Usually no, unless you only have a small number of professional photos. I choose not only the best photos for your photo album, but the most appropriate photos for each page layout and the ones with best resolution to be printed.

You can tell me which photos you definitely want in my photo album, I understand that certain photos may have a sentimental value even if they are not the best of your photos. We can discuss a way of identifying your favourite photos to make sure they are featured in your photo album. However, this should be discussed in the photo album consultation before the photo editing and design process begins to make sure they are included.

  • What are some sample photo projects?

    • Imagine sitting down with a treasured grandparent, looking through their decade-old photos and documenting their stories in connection to those photos. Oftentimes, we desperately start digging through old photos when a loved one passes, and while we may find comfort in looking at their photos, the background story is lost. What a celebration of life to capture their stories while they’re still here to share them and how honoured they’d be to receive such a special gift!
    • Imagine your parents’ 50th wedding anniversary and how much they would appreciate a photo album that documents their long life together. To complete the package, a touching slideshow of their photos and videos could play at their party.
    • Imagine celebrating each year of your child’s life with a special photo album about them that highlights all their experiences and accomplishments of the prior year. Photo albums of this nature can do wonders to boost a child’s self-esteem.
    • Do you have a cherished family pet? How about dedicating a photo album, slideshow or a wall art to them and the happiness they bring your family?

Click here to see my Gallery.

  • What type of photos do you accept?

I accept JPEGS, TIFFS, EPS and RAW files. If you are scanning printed photos that you would like to feature in your photo album, they need to be scanned at 600dpi. Alternatively, I offer scanning services if you need photo scanning done for your photo album for an extra cost.

  • What quality should my photos be?

The quality of your photo album is dependent on the quality of your photos. Digital photos should be at least 150dpi and the higher quality photo, the more creative control I have to zoom in, crop, etc. Generally, when taking photos on your digital camera use the highest resolution setting. Large photos can always be made smaller but small photos can only be made so big.

Photos dragged from social media such Facebook or Instagram most times are unsuitable for a photo album.

  • Do I need to have professional photos?

Not at all. I understand that most of our photo memories are constantly being captured all the time and we don't always have a professional photographer on hand!

I work with the photos you provide me to create the best photo album possible, whether they are professional photos or the ones you've snapped with your smart phone. But at the same time, the quality of your photos will no doubt alter the overall look of your photo album. A photo album can only reflect the photos inside it, so the better the photos, the better your photo album will be.

Click here to see my Gallery.

  • Do you retouch or alter my photos?

Minor retouching, such as red-eye, fade and colour correction, is included to make them look as good as they possibly can. I may make some photos black & white or sepia where appropriate to create interest and help tell the story of a particular photo album.

I also offer more in-depth retouching, editing and restauration services.

Click here for more information about my Preserving services.

  • Can the photos appear in a chronological order?

Yes. This is something that would be discuss in the photo album consultation. I would recommend though that sometimes I may move photos around slightly to make a more beautiful photo album, but it’s up to you.

Alternatively, the photos can be into sections, such as events, seasons, etc. This is recommended as it allows me to make the most beautiful layouts possible by matching photos with similar themes, colours and styles.

  • Do I get the printed photos back?

Absolutely! I will return your printed photos in person or via tracked delivery mail.

  • Will I get to see my photo album before it is printed?

Once the changes have been made I will resend an updated online link for your approval. Any additional changes after the final approval review will incur an extra cost.

  • Can I have captions or text in my photo album?

Of course, I am happy to include captions, texts, dedications, letters, song’s lyrics, poems, etc. This will be discussed in the photo album consultation, before the design process begins as it will affect the design of the page layouts.

  • Can I submit additional photos after the photo album consultation?

Yes, I can accept additional photos during the creating stage of your photo album. I understand that in the process of creation clients can find that photo or concert ticket they couldn’t find before. I would prefer thought to have all material at the start of the project. Once the reviewing process of the album start I cannot accept additional material as it means redesigning the layouts.
